My name is Josiane Lessard, I'm 17 years old and I'm a cyclist since I'm 13 years old. When I was young, I was watching Geneviève Jeanson, Lyne Besset and Clara Hughes on TV. I was a 12 years old soccer player when my parents told me that I was old enough to have a "race bicycle". One year later, I realized that I enjoyed more the one kilometer to go to my soccer pratice than THE soccer practice.
So I went with Vélo Club Longueuil and it changed my life. I learned I lot of things, I met a lot of poeple and I got more self-esteem. One of my new good friends, Olivier Miclette, talked to me about "sport-étude cyclisme" at Demortagne high school...a few months later, I realized that I needed to leave my friends and to go to that program if I really wanted to perform. So thats what I did.
Actually I'm racing with VCL-André cycle team. I don't have a lot of sponsors because of the results of my last season, but this year is different. I'm not the cyclist that I was anymore. I'm more serious and with my new results of this season, I'm shure that I will find some sponsors. My dream, I want to go to Olympic games in 2016. I know that its big, but last year, to finish on the podium with more than five minutes before the peloton arrived to the finish line was totally impossible...and I did it! But for now, I want to go the the junior world championship in Italia. I have a lot of big projects for this winter, but I can't talk about them because they are not officials...
